Min-is-try
- The act of serving; ministration.
- One that serves as a means; an instrumentality.
Here at St Luke’s our understanding of ministry is service, and specifically the kind of service that Jesus commanded through word and example.
When John [the Baptist] heard in prison what the Messiah was doing, he sent word by his disciples and said to him, “Are you the one who is to come, or are we to wait for another?” Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have good news brought to them. Gospel of Matthew 11:2-5
[Jesus Said;] “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Gospel of Matthew 28:19-20
At St Luke’s our ministry falls into four broad categories;
- Ministry in the Community
- Ministry in Worship
- Ministry to support our Parish Life
- Ministries of Formation and Education
